Eric Grigsby, MD, MBA
Dr. Eric Grigsby enjoys a national reputation for excellence in the field of Pain Management. He has a background as a researcher, teacher and clinician, and brings over 25 years of clinical experience to the Redwood Pain Institute. Dr. Grigsby attended elementary and secondary school in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee, and received a Bachelors Degree in Biology and Economics from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He formed an interest in Pain Management as a career while working at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
After graduating from Boston University Medical School in 1984, Dr. Grigsby trained in General Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Pain Management at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He was then invited to join the Medical Staff and teach at the Mayo Medical School until moving to California in 1989. The Dean of the University of California at Davis Medical Center then invited Dr. Grigsby to establish their first Pain Management Center, where he served as Medical Director until 1992. Following his post at UC Davis, Dr. Grigsby established his private Pain Management practice in Napa, California.
Today, he and his staff of over 25 professionals consult with patients from throughout Northern California and the western United States, and now Kauai and the Hawaiian Islands. More recently, Dr. Grigsby completed his Masters in Business Administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He speaks nationally on topics such as non-operative treatment of spinal disorders, the safe use of medications for treatment of pain, and the legal and regulatory issues relating to proper treatment of patients with chronic illness.
Avinash Ramchandani, MD, MBA
Dr. Avinash Ramchandani is a native Californian who is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain management. He received his B.A. Molecular in Cell Biology from UC Berkeley. After he completed his undergraduate degree, he attained his M.S. in 2001 and M.D. in 2005 from the Rosalind Franklin University, the Chicago Medical School. He did his internship at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, California, and residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. After residency, he completed his fellowship in Pain Medicine at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Ramchandani completed dual Master degrees in Business Administration from the Johnson Business School at Cornell University and Queens University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
Dr. Ramchandani incorporates pain procedures, nutrition, exercises, and medications to customize treatment options for patients in pain. He enjoys being on the cutting edge of proven treatments for pain management and believes in optimizing the functional being so that pain is controlled and people may live with the highest degree of dignity.
Dr. Ramchandani is married and has two young children who he enjoys spending time with. He is an avid baseball and football fan and loves the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. He has an interest in writing and is published in several journals and national and international periodicals. He also enjoys running, golf, swimming and exercising.
Gail McGlothlen, DNP RN-BC CNSDoctor of Nursing Practice
Dr. Gail McGlothlen has specialized in cancer and chronic pain management for over twenty years, managed patients with TDD for fourteen years, and continues to be Board Certified in Pain Management by the American Nurses Credentialing Center since 2006. After she received a Masters Degree in Advanced Nursing Practice-Oncology from the University of California, San Francisco in 2001 Gail joined Dr. Grigsby at Napa Pain Institute where, in addition to managing patients with IDDSs, she conducted clinical research, provided clinical practice education nationally, and co-authored several published case reports.
In 2016, Gail graduated from California State University, Fresno with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice and is Adjunct Faculty at Texas Christian University, Harris College of Nursing in Fort Worth, Texas. In December of 2016 the manuscript of the results of her doctoral research on the training of the health care professional for the intraspinal drug delivery system’s reservoir refill procedure was accepted for publication in Neuromodulation.
